Helix Studios has created a clubhouse for 600 hot young white and Latino twinks and college boys in more than 1500 video scenes from their five video lines, plus web-exclusives. The video quality varies, though the majority are good quality, capturing these smooth, young guys in a variety of action, including condom and non-condom scenes. New this year are occasional live shows. One thing to be aware of is that the site has two levels of membership; a streaming only membership is just $19.95 per month; but if you want to download and keep videos, it's $29.95

Tour

The Helix Studios tour is a mirror-type tour reflecting all of the content inside. The home page highlights new scenes and clicking on "All Scenes" or "All Movies" takes you to a complete content index. There is a preview clip for the forty most recent scenes and most of the DVD titles.

Usability

Navigation is quite easy: just use the buttons across the top of each page to browse by scene (video), movie or model. Sorting and searching has improved quite a bit with the addition of a search box and a drop-down menu to select by theme. Scenes are also tagged with keywords. One defect: we found with Internet Explorer that doing a search, looking at one video and then clicking "Back" resulted in an expired page rather going back to the search results page.

The Men and the Action

Here you'll find exclusive web videos mixed with almost the entire Helix Studios DVD catalog. There's something for everyone from five different lines: 8TeenBoy, Latin Studs, Spank This, Hot Studs, Fratboy, and Raw Lads.

The cute twink and collegiate models of Helix fall mostly into the 19 to 24- year-old age group. A few may have ripened to their late twenties, but these are in the minority. You'll find solo, duo and group action in a variety of indoor settings, and outdoors around the pool or hot tub - even in the forest and someones back yard.

Favorite scenarios include solo masturbation, sucking, fucking, rimming, facials, lots of spanking, a few toys, and double penetration. The original production values as far as lighting, sound, and a variety of camera angles, poses, and a range of medium and close-up shots are pretty good. The technical quality depends on whether the site has made a particular video available in what they label Hi-Definition; these 60% are good quality; the other 40% are average quality.

In total, you'll find more than 1540 video scenes, averaging 15 minutes each in length. There are five weekly updates and there is no DRM on the videos.

Video is available to stream in an in-browser Flash player and to download in Windows Media and MP4 formats.

You can stream the Flash videos in-browser, playing at 960x540 or 640x480 pixels.

The Windows Media files don't have a Hi-Def option; the bitrates ranged from 900 to 1100 kbps, playing in a 640x360 or 640x480 window.

Mac note:The MP4 videos (labelled Quicktime, with an M4V extension) are the best choice for Mac users -- and for everyone else; about 60% of the vids come in at 960x540 pixels while the rest are 640x480; they have a bitrate of up to 1800 kbps.

Mobile note: The MP4 videos can be viewed on an iPhone and can be downloaded and synced with iTunes. There is a mobile version of the site included with your subscription.

Image and Other Content

Each video is accompanied by an image set. The more recent of these are large, high quality digital photos, about 45 to a set. Older image sets are average-quality video captures. All image sets can be downloaded as a zip file.

Summing Up

Helix Studios is a great showcase all-American teens and twinks. The guys are hot, the majority of videos are good quality, there is a huge amount of content and frequent updates.
