Since it launched in 2002, Dirty Boy Video has taken a wild and woolly approach to gay sex as a lusty, edgy series of encounters between horny young guys in weird locations and circumstances on New York City's streets, tiny apartments, subways and rooftops. Quite a number of the guys, with their punk and emo hair, tats and piercings are way ahead of their time, and these days there's a steady stream of them.

The site's formerly confusing content display has been simplified since last review. This year, members have access to more than 120 "regular" hardcore and audition videos before delving into the 200 "Vintage" offerings in more exotic categories. Dirty Boy Video proves there's a lot of sexed-up fun to be had at the fringes of conventional gay sex.

Tour

The tour at Dirty Boy Video gives you some idea of what you'll find as a member, though it is not a complete mirror of the inside of the site. You'll preview about 40 explicit two-minute clips on the first three pages. Each clip is accompanied by 10 small thumbnail pics of the featured video. Click on any of these little pics and you'll be taken to the join page. The tour really emphasizes the more recent, amateur guys the site is attracting these days and doesn't mention any of the older, lesser quality videos inside. If you click on anything on the subsequent pages of the tour you'll be sent to the join page.

Usability

The site used to have all of its episodes sort of jumbled together, and it looked like some kind of failed science project. Now, it has all of the more recent well shot and well lit videos listed first, followed by the so-called "Vintage" videos in specialty categories such as "Sex Dare", "Underground", "Frathouse", and "Hardcore". This is a huge improvement because these days quality rules and we all want to see the good stuff first. There is no search function, but the "Auditions" section now serves as a kind of model index.

The Men and the Action

The "Dirty" boys are mostly slender guys between 18 and 25. They range from cute to average, and from college-type guys to more alternative types with tattoos, piercings, emo hair and cool stubble sculpting. Dirty Boy Video includes several unusual themes such as jerking off in public places like parking garages and stairwells, sex under surveillance cams, frat house highjinks, and doll fuckers. Each theme is pretty well-captured. Most of the audition videos where the guy is doing his first shoot include a brief interview and jackoff. Around half of all the videos are solo.

Video Details

The videos in the main episode index are easy to watch and are above- average quality. The most recent, larger, videos are definitely better quality, partly because improved cameras respond well to various light conditions, though the still camera jiggles and sways around a little more than we like.

From way back in the day until the present, the videos have all been shot with a single hand-held camera, and the older ones didn't always have the same lighting and sharpness as the current videos. But now it's easy to tell that the "Vintage" (ie older) categories are the lesser-quality ones. For example,some of the "Underground" and "Surveillance" videos are shot in rather dark rooms.

At review time there are more than 335 exclusive videos, of which about 120 are the newer, better quality ones. The site updates with original content twice a week.

Image and Other Content

Many of the videos are accompanied by image galleries. The photos are medium sized and good quality. There are no slideshows or zip files available and no choice of image size.

There's a fair amount of non-exclusive content inside Dirty Boy Video, including extra image galleries, Dick Show, Cruiser Boys, NYC Boys and Dick Magazine. (The same company that runs Dirty Boy Video actually owns these plug-ins).

Summing Up

New York City based Dirty Boy Video has taken a big leap forward in video quality and content organization while continuing to feature young amateurs in novel situations. The sexy, natural qualities of these guys are really highlighted, the site has great personality. The wild experiment that Dirty Boy Video used to be has now become so much better.
